Roughly half of Newham’s population has contracted the Covid 19 virus. With 144.3 deaths per 100,000 Newham tops the UK death rate for Covid 19. Clinical staff in Newham and the Bart’s Trust are working 12 hour shifts and daily dealing with the results of Covid, both directly in terms of the patients struggling to breathe and indirectly, as seriously ill people have appointments and surgery postponed.
Staff are continuing on adrenaline. But when the crisis subsides, we are concerned that the physical and mental exhaustion of clinical staff will result in a second crisis as staff drop, both literally and metaphorically.
Whilst NHS staff continue to give selfless support and quite literally save the lives of our neighbours, you get the idiots like Piers (the Other) Corbyn, responsible for circulating the rubbish above.
