Will the Galloway Event Go Ahead?

Twitter has been buzzing with the news of Galloway’s impending appearance along the Barking Road.

It does seem that not everyone is quite as keen as the event organisers to see him back in Newham. Several have asked why Newham Council is allowing their venue to be used by someone they accuse of being antisemitic.

Perhaps they should write to the mayor and make their views known.

Surprisingly, we have not heard from any of the Newham councillors on this one. Perhaps they are heeding the instructions of the apparatchiks at London Region; perhaps they are unclear which line they should be taking.

The Independent Group are under no such limitations.

But others, apparently unconnected with the Labour Party are a little more willing to express a view. 

It is not just his position on Palestine that has generated the ire of Twitter-users. His affection for militaristic, authoritarian regimes elsewhere has not endeared him to many.
