What Do These Two People Have in Common?

Firstly, they are both MPs elected under the Labour banner.

Secondly, they represent north London constituencies.

Third, they were both lovers.

Fourth, they both have a chequered history when it comes to Jews and antisemitism.

Fifth, they are both without the Labour Whip.

We pondered, is there something in the water in North London that is causing Labour embarrassment? Both former Leader and former Home Secretary now find themselves without the whip in parliament. This must surely be unprecedented, we struggle to recall a time when a major political party has suspended/expelled two such high profile individuals.

We reflected earlier about the possibility of Jeremy Corbyn standing as part of a Red/Green Alliance. Is it possible that Abbot might join him? And if so, how many of the other avowedly ‘left-wing’ North London MPs might join them?
