Is Labour in Newham Going Bust?
Reports have come to us that Newham Council’s Labour Group is struggling financially.
The elected councillors each pay a percentage of their income to the Labour Group. This in turn pays for the services of an organiser and for their election campaigns.
It is understood that this raises a figure in the tens of thousands.
Leaving aside the increasing frustration of Labour councillors, that their social media presence is uninspired compared to their main opposition. Perhaps they should ditch their organiser and poach the social media manager from the Independents. There are questions about what the money has been spent on.
This is not a worry about fingers in the till, no-one believes that. What concerns some of the comrades is that they are (allegedly) some £27,000 in the red.
But we can all be confident that they have the finances of the council in safe hands.
