Left-Leaning Magazine Takes Fiaz to Task

In a recent article, the Covert Councillor, writing for Prospect magazine has noted some funny goings on at Newham Council.

It seems that the concerns raised by this website have resonated elsewhere. 

One fact that we discover in the article is that there have been 17 complaints by staff against politicians, three of which were against the mayor personally. It appears, though we don’t know this for certain, that the response to such complaints has been to stuff the pockets of the complainants with money, send them on their way and slap them with a gagging order.

This is truly astonishing.

The Newham strapline, introduced by Fiaz states that they are “Building a Fairer Newham”. Err, yeah.

Accusations of bullying and creating a “toxic” workplace have dogged the Fiaz administration. Her first term particularly was noted for allegations (and suspensions and dismissals) for antisemitism.  Formal complaints by staff, complaints to the Labour Party by councillors and nearly £4m spent on gagging orders suggest that this is an administration whose time is over and which needs to be replaced.
