In a story that you couldn’t make up, Newham Council issued a parking penalty against itself. Unable to resolve the matter internally, the case went all the way to appeal. And then the council dropped the case… against the council.

We understand that the back story is that a member of Newham staff was using a council vehicle on work related matters. There was a parking contravention and the vehicle was ticketed. There was some dispute over who was responsible for paying the fine.

It seems, the employee has won the dispute.

We can only imagine what the adjudicator thought about the case when it arrived on his desk.
