Sad Loss of Tom Duncan

For almost 30 years, Tom Duncan was editor of the Newham Recorder. He lived in Beckton and for many years had been a keen observer of, and was much involved in, Newham life. His contribution to the Newham community was recognized in the millennium year, 2000, when he received the freedom of the borough.

He was both critical and supportive of the council. His attitude was determined by the issue at hand, but whatever he did, he did with courtesy and the best interests of the people of Newham at heart.

Tom was an Anglican and upon leaving the newspaper industry he was ordained as a priest. For 25 years he served at All Saints Church in Poplar, which is where his funeral will be held on Wednesday 4th October 2023, at 2.30pm.
