Shock, Third Resignation of Newham Cabinet Member

Open Newham has learned that Cllr Miriam Dawood told cabinet colleagues that she was resigning. It is understood that Dawood handed her resignation to Mayor Fiaz. Fiaz in turn asked that didn’t publish the resignation until after the Peer Review had been completed. For some reason she felt that the departure of three cabinet members in so short a time might reflect badly on her administration. Dawood agreed.

However, some of her colleagues did not feel themselves to be under the same constraints with regard to secrecy and spilt the news to Open Newham.

We understand that the cause of Dawood’s departure was the tense and often abrasive relationship with the mayor.
