“Who Let This Woman onto the List?”
Remember the travails of Newham Labour. One councillor was deselected for complaining about antisemitism within the Newham Party. At the same time, an antisemite was selected to stand for a seat in Canning Town South.
We covered this earlier.
You’d have thought that the Labour Party would have got its act together having been thoroughly hauled over the coals for its acceptance of antisemitism within the ranks. Maybe they are getting close to sorting things out.
We hear that the Labour Party has finally decided to kick the antisemitic councillor for Canning Town South out of the party.
But you wouldn’t know it. Newham Labour is keeping things very quiet, though you might just notice a change in the party affiliation of Cllr Guana on the council website.
Our sources tell us that during the course of the inquiry, one member of the panel was heard to ask, “who let this woman onto the list?”.
A very reasonable question. We are told that representations were made on behalf of the mayor by a well-known councillor who spoke effusively as to why Guana should be adopted as a candidate.
It seems that Party apparatchiks are none to impressed with the people that embroiled the party in yet another embarrassing antisemitic episode.
Six months into the new term and Newham Labour has already lost one of its councillors. What else lurks under the political carpet?
