A Blind Spot for the Independent Group. Closet antisemitism?

A ceasefire, like the ceasefire that was in place on October 6th 2023? Or a ceasefire like the one Mohammed negotiated with the Quraysh?

The fighting in Gaza can end tomorrow, if Hamas et al agree to accept the existence of Israel and agree to permanently end the conflict. But they can’t.

The prologue to the Hamas Charter states:

Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it" (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory).

The quote is from the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood which gave birth to Hamas.

In the Introduction it states:

This Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS), clarifies its picture, reveals its identity, outlines its stand, explains its aims, speaks about its hopes, and calls for its support, adoption and joining its ranks. Our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious. It needs all sincere efforts. It is a step that inevitably should be followed by other steps. The Movement is but one squadron that should be supported by more and more squadrons from this vast Arab and Islamic world, until the enemy is vanquished and Allah's victory is realised.

Quoting from the Hadith, in Article 7 it states:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews."

In article 8 it affirms that:

Jihad is its path and death for the sake of Allah is the loftiest of its wishes.

If the Charter isn’t clear enough, Ghazi Hamad of the Hamas Political Bureau said after the October 7th attacks, “Israel’s existence is illogical” and that it must be wiped off all “Palestinian lands”. Just to be clear, this does not simply mean withdrawal from Gaza and the West Bank, it means from the entire region. He went on, referring to the attacks of October 7th, “there will be a second, a third, a fourth”.

We are bound to ask, we understand the demands upon Israel, but are Hamas being invited to abide by this “ceasefire”? And if so, for how long?

In the interview we conducted with Cllr Mirza, we recall his preference for a single state solution, and one which might not have any Jews in it.

We have no doubt that neither Cllr Mirza (nor his colleagues) have any desire to kill or harm any Jews. The same cannot be said of some of their co-religionists, and they’re the ones with the guns.
