Landlords for Labour 2022
Again, we see the hypocrisy of the Labour Party in Newham. Decrying private landlords, when almost a quarter of the council are private landlords. Let’s see what we can uncover this time.

Rohima and Mohammed M Rahman

Entry of Mohammed Muzibur Rahman dated 21st January 2022.
Cllr Rohima Rahman seems to be relying upon an entry she supplied in 2016. Unfortunately, this is somewhat out of date as we can see by a perusal of her husband’s entry. We suspect that she has failed the ‘Nolan’ test, probably as a result of laziness rather than a deliberate attempt to mislead. We’re not sure that that makes a difference in the eyes of the law.
Nonetheless, a nice little portfolio enhanced by a double set of council allowances at the taxpayers’ expense.
Pushpa Makwana
Cllr Pushpa Makwana recently moved out of Newham. We therefore have to ask why this address of her Former home remains undisclosed on the council’s website, unless of course Cllr Makwana is renting it out. But then, why does its location have to be a secret? Perhaps it is to spare her blushes. The entry probably needs to be corrected.
Then we have a number of founding members of Landlords for Labour.
Cabinet Member Zulfiqar Ali retains a modest portfolio.
With just one investment property, it hardly seems worth including Cllr Easter.
Cllr Shaban Mohammed maintains a portfolio of privately rented properties.
Cllr Salim Patel has managed to supplement his council allowance and his income from employment with several properties.
Chair of the Council, Cllr Vaughan has managed to acquire a property to supplement his pension and council allowance.
Cllr Harvinder Singh Virdee has likewise managed to supplement his income with property.
Cllr Whitworth. This famously Corbynite councillor has nonetheless managed to secure a place in the capitalist bourgeoisie with a couple of properties. Comrade Marx would be turning in his grave!
