The Problems along the Romford Road Continue.

Photos from The Recorder report.

The ON report on prostitution and the mayor’s (lack of) response generated some heated correspondence. It is clear that residents, particularly those in Townley Court are not as sanguine about the issue as our political leaders seem to be.

One correspondent writes, “So the mayor of Newham thinks it's not a problem is she taking the piss, why don't we put all these prostitutes and drug dealers round where she lives …taking the f***ing piss Newham…You’re worth nothing, why do we have a damn mayor of Newham …?”

It seems to be that the problems highlighted by the Recorder earlier in the summer have not gone away.  Another correspondent identifies particular problems.

“Drug addicts and criminals who have been entering our estate late at night and openly taking drugs and causing a nuisance keeping us awake at night none of them are vulnerable just down right criminals.”

There might be a dozen reasons why action has not been taken, but the bottom line is that residents, council tax-payers and voters living along the Romford Road are having their lives blighted by prostitution, drug users, petty criminals, noise and the constant threat of violence.

Words are cheap. It is the residents of Newham who are suffering.

It’s time to do something. These are the people who can act.

Stratford: Cllrs Garfield, Kamali, Paul.

Forest Gate South: Cllrs Islam, Vaughan

Manor Park: Cllrs Bailey, Dawood, S. Patel.

Green St East: Cllrs M. Patel, M. Rahman, Zilikaja.

Green St West: Cllrs Godfrey, Khan, A. Virdee

Additionally, Cllr Virdee holds the portfolio for Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour. You’d think that he might have some interest in solving the problem.

Their contact details are on the Newham website and can be accessed here.

While the councillors may have some views on the problem, (and some seem to be quite content with the mayor’s inaction), it is the mayor who will make the final decision.

She can be contacted here

It’s time for action!!
