This is What Happens. Unless You Come from Newham

The statement above comes from the Labour Party’s complaints procedure on antisemitism. It is available on the Labour Party website.

It continues.

It is something of a puzzle to understand then, why it is that when two Labour councillors (Clark and Peppiatt) wrote to the Labour Party in 2020, they heard nothing back. They got no news of any investigation. Got no reports of progress or recommendations as to how the offenders would be dealt with.

So, they wrote again in late 2021 only to get the same deafening silence in response. It is possible, but this is only conjecture, that the silence is a result of the Mayor being criticised in the report that she, herself commissioned. It would be embarrassing to have Ms Fiaz publicly criticised in relation to antisemitism, whilst both claiming to be rooting it out of the party and imposing Ms Fiaz as the mayoral candidate.

This was one major factor in the decision of Cllr Peppiatt to resign the Labour Whip.

It seems that Labour wants to do the right thing, but hasn’t quite managed it yet.
