CPA Announces Mayoral Anti-Nepotism Candidate

In what must be one of the more unusual announcements, we learn that the CPA, (Christian People’s Alliance) has chosen Simeon Ademolake as their candidate for mayor. 

Simeon was a one-term councillor between 2006-2010, alongside Denise Stafford and Alan Craig in Canning Town South. After his defeat in the 2010 election, he left the CPA and joined Labour. Here he unsuccessfully sought to become a councillor again.

He was known to be a likeable fellow, but did not impress with his understanding of politics nor of his grasp of detail.

Perhaps his most famous moment was an altercation with two police officers who sought to arrest him. He sent one of them to the hospital.

It seems that he has returned to the CPA fold and been rewarded, if that is the correct term, with the mayoral nomination. And whilst the nomination was announced at the beginning of April, no, it is not an April Fool’s prank. 

His criticism of Labour’s manoeuvrings, which saw something like two thirds of the potential candidates un-interviewed, may resonate with an electorate wary of the one-party state and suffering from high council taxes and new taxes on parking.

If past CPA performance is anything to go by, he is unlikely to get a large vote, so the question is, where will his second preferences go? Are the CPA, who have historically been quite canny in their approach to local elections going to try to fight every seat or will they enter into some sort of pact with the other small parties to consolidate the anti-Labour vote?
