Not Just Labour. Reform Suffers a Major Defection.
It seems that defections are in the air.
On Tuesday 2nd July, just two days before the general election, Georgie David, Reform’s candidate for the West Ham and Beckton seat resigned. What’s more, she urged her supporters to vote for the Conservatives, who will clearly be grateful for any help they can get.
David quit alleging that racism and misogyny were rife within the ranks of Reform candidates and members.
Former leader, Richard Tice, responded by suggesting that David and fellow Reform defector, Liam Booth-Isherwood, were Tory plants, installed to cause Reform embarrassment and harm. His comments have been amplified on social media.
Amongst all of the things that psephologists will be look for on Friday will be, how many people voted for a candidate who is no longer standing?
Reform has clearly had some issues with the selection of its candidates. They have dropped 110 prospective parliamentary candidates since January amid allegations of widespread racism in the ranks.
