The Mayor’s Relentless Campaign to Shore Up Her Personal Vote amongst Newham’s Muslims

It seems that various councillors have decided that their chances of advancement now lie with Mayor Fiaz. Various reports have come to Open Newham about the mayor’s charm offensive in the Muslim community.

Here we see her at a meeting with prominent local Muslims under the umbrella of the Vahora Voice, an Indian based organisation linking expatriates from NW India including Gujarat. We are told that this was organised at short notice, under 24 hours, so it was a turnout that they will be pleased with.

Sat to either side of the Mayor are councillors Miriam Dawood and Saleem Patel. Also prominent at the event is the father of Councillor Firoza Nekiwallah. In the right-foreground we have Newham’s most prominent Irish Republican, Jayne Fisher.

Around the table we see a number of prominent local community members.

It seems that Cllr Patel has decided to throw in his lot with Mayor Fiaz. We came across this post of him at a walkabout that wasn’t even in his ward. Wherever Fiaz goes, it seems that Cllr Patel is sure to follow.
