Careful Guys, Big Sister is Watching You.

001

For those of you who think that a council suffering from severe budget strains; with perhaps the highest child poverty rate in the country; that has had its streets turned into a waste disposal area; and that has one of the highest housing lists in England, might focus its efforts on some of the problems that bedevil its residents, this may come as a surprise.

The regular council meeting provides a space in which people with no idea about how to make life better for their constituents can virtue-signal on matters, which might be important, but which are not high on the agenda of local residents. In the council meeting there is space for members to raise motions, to determine policy, (which of course, the mayor can simply ignore), but more importantly, it allows members to parade their socialist credentials with motions which make a statement but which have no discernible effect on the people of Newham.

Just one such instance was the meeting on 16th November when the council debated and then raised their ‘virtual’ hands on a whipped vote. We say debated, but that does sound like there were two points of view discussed. There weren’t.

The motion was on the designation of misogyny as a hate crime. Appropriately enough, the motion was introduced by the one elected member with a criminal record. And the comrades lined up to show just how woke they were.

Never one to pass up an opportunity to hear the sound of her own voice, Mayor Fiaz also entered the debate.

From what she says, it is clear that Mayor Fiaz is suffering at the hands of some of her male comrades, (and female ones too according to our sources, but she didn’t mention them). In a hyperbolic and rambling peroration, she insisted that putting in FOI requests about her policies was tantamount to a hate crime. How dare members of the public ask her, a woman, questions? The very idea exposed their misogyny.

Her affection for her male colleagues is clearly strained. She let them know that “they” were watching how the men voted on the motion. Not so much a case of Big Brother as Big Sister is watching you.

“They” are as yet unidentified, but may relate to the newly created Labour Wimin’s Group. Keep your noses clean boys. You might yet get cancelled. Remember, its not what you mean when you speak that is important, its whether someone can complain that they have been offended. It’s a ‘crime’ even if you intended no offence in the modern Labour Party.

The mayor is struggling to distinguish between these of her colleagues who dislike her because she is a woman and those who dislike her because she is inept. We don’t know how many are in the first category but are aware of a large and growing number (including some of those in the cabinet and baby-cabinet). So, just to be of assistance, we thought that we might help. Here is a simple definition.

“Misogyny: Contempt or prejudice against women and girls.” It can be evidenced in actions against a single person, through if there is only one person, it is difficult to assert that this is a general antipathy rather than a personal dislike.

Unfortunately, the mayor hasn’t got it yet that the fact that her comrades want rid of her is not because she is a woman. It’s because they have lost confidence in her. But accusing them of misogyny is a useful way of deflecting their proper concerns about the way she is leading the council towards bankruptcy.

“Free speech is important, but should be rationed to those who do not speak ill of the mayor.”
