People’s Petition Gathers Pace

The drive to fund the “People’s Petition” has gathered pace. They are roughly halfway towards their goal. This will fund their costs of taking the matter to court in the light of the decision by Newham Council’s legal officers to rule the petition as illegitimate. The petition calls for a referendum on the Leader and Cabinet model of governance.

Those behind the court case clearly feel that the decision was more than a little cynical, allowing Fiaz to sneak in with her own, and Momentum’s preferred option of Leader and Committee model, after the petition with over 12,000 names had been delivered.
